Officers from the Imo State Police Command rescued 19 Ad-Hoc staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, who were kidnapped in the early hours of Saturday in the State.
Chinenye Chijioke-Osuji, the INEC spokesman in the state, confirmed the news.
She stated that they were rescued following a distress call, and that information about the situation was shared with security personnel, who reacted swiftly.
When the rescued Ad-Hoc staff of the Electoral Commission were kidnapped, they were on their way to seven separate polling stations in Ugbelie ward 06 in Ideato South Local Government Area of the State.
She went on to say that some electoral materials, such as BVAS and sensitive materials, were not found.
