A former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr. Tomide Akinribido, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akinribido, previously the deputy-minority leader in the 9th House of Assembly, officially joined the APC on Monday. Expressing his contentment with joining the ruling party, he pledged his dedication to collaborating with the new party’s structure, leadership, stakeholders, and members.
“My decision to align with the APC stems from my belief that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa possesses the necessary capacity and political will to effectively lead the state and improve the welfare of its people,” he stated.
The Ondo State Chairman of APC, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, welcomed Akinribido, emphasizing that the defection was a significant development. Adetimehin highlighted the former lawmaker’s intellectual prowess and capacity, expressing confidence that the APC would benefit from his contributions.
“As Akinribido has joined us now, I want to inform you that several PDP chieftains have indicated their willingness to join the APC, and in due course, you will become aware of them.
“We have a broad umbrella that can accommodate numerous party faithful,” Adetimehin remarked.
