Thugs in large numbers have invaded the Adejare Polling Unit in Ilasa, Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State, dispersing voters who were waiting for officials and ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission to start voting in the ongoing governorship and state assembly elections.
According to Arome Solomon, an eyewitness, INEC officials were unable to be located as of 10:12 a.m., keeping many people stuck until thugs from the adjacent street entered the polling unit with knives and other sharp objects to disperse them.
“Police officers are also not present. “Everyone has fled and is unwilling to return,” he added.
Another eyewitness, who asked to remain anonymous and works as a party agent at Polling Unit 052, Olusoji Street, off Afariogun, Oshodi, stated that there was no police presence at the polling unit.
“I was forced out of the area by suspected All Progressives Congress thugs after confirming that I am an opposition party agent,” he continued.
“They took my phone and checked through it to make sure I hadn’t recorded their activities.
“They also chased away non-indigenous people despite the fact that they registered at several of the voting locations, threatening to beat them if they resisted,” he continued.
