The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued the outcomes of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with a total of 64,624 candidates’ results withheld due to various infractions.
Candidates are advised to access their results by 7 a.m. on Tuesday.
Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, disclosed the release of the results during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, mentioning that the withheld results would undergo further investigation by the board.
The 2024 UTME, which commenced on April 19th, 2024, concluded on April 29th, 2024, with 1,989,668 candidates registered for the exams conducted across 118 towns in 774 Computer Based Test Centres (CBT).
Out of the registered candidates, 1,904,109 actually took the examination, while 80,810 were absent. Oloyede detailed that 64,624 results were under scrutiny for various reasons, including verification (2,896), procedural investigations (4,594), and prima facie established examination misconduct (78).
Furthermore, investigations were conducted on results associated with 57,056 candidates across 18 centres in Edo (12 centres), Akwa Ibom (three centres), Delta (two centres), and Kwara (one centre).
Oloyede remarked on the remarkably low incidence of infractions in the 2024 UTME compared to previous years, highlighting only 78 cases of examination misconduct recorded in the recent exercise.
Regarding candidates’ performance, Oloyede noted that 8,401 candidates scored 300 and above (0.5 percent), while 77,070 candidates scored 250 and above (4.2 percent). Additionally, 439,974 candidates scored 200 and above, with 1,402,470 candidates scoring below 200.
Candidates were advised to use the phone numbers they utilized during registration to text UTMERESULT to 55019/66019 for result inquiries, eliminating the need to visit CBT centres or cybercafés.
Oloyede highlighted a significant increase in female enrollment, with over 1 million girls registering for the examination, surpassing the number of male candidates for the first time in three years. Additionally, there was a 36.2 percent increase in the enrollment of People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) compared to the previous year.
Out of the total registrations, results for 1,842,464 candidates have been released, while 64,624 results are under investigation.
Oloyede emphasized JAMB’s commitment to maintaining fairness, equity, and justice in the admission process, reaffirming their dedication to fulfilling their mandate as they release the 2024 UTME results.
