The law enforcement officers linked to the Lagos State Police Command arrested an individual suspected of drug trafficking, who purportedly claimed to hold a position within the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
At the time of the arrest, the suspect was allegedly found in possession of 4 kg of illicit substance known as Marsh-Mallow.
The arrested individual, identified as Kelechi Chukwumeeije, was apprehended at Cement Bus stop by a team of detectives led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Samuel Sunday.
According to an inside source, during preliminary interrogations, the suspect introduced himself as Kelechi Chukwumeeije and asserted that he is affiliated with the NDLEA office situated at the first gate of Tin-Can Island.
The source added that the suspect admitted to receiving the illicit substance from a superior within the agency.
Confirming the arrest, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police, stated that the command has yet to establish contact with the NDLEA in order to verify the authenticity of the suspect’s affiliation with the narcotic agency.
