Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) Presidential Candidate, has warned of a scheme to mimic and frame him in the United Kingdom.
The former Anambra State governor, who just returned from London where he spent Easter, said he was hounded and held by immigration officers in the country. He said that the spontaneous reaction of Nigerians at Heathrow Airport in London rescued him.
According to a statement issued by the Obi-Datti media team yesterday, immigration authorities who questioned the LP presidential candidate were obliged to admit that he was being held for a duplicate offense by Nigerians at the airport.
According to the team, someone had been impersonating Obi in London, and because the imposter was still at large, the former Anambra State governor may be implicated in a variety of illicit actions.
“On Good Friday, April 7, 2023, Obi arrived Heathrow Airport in London from Nigeria and joined the queue for the necessary airport protocols when he was accosted by an immigration official who handed him a detention note and told him to step aside,” it stated. He was interrogated for an extended period of time, which was unusual for a man who had lived in that nation for over a decade.
Because Obi’s face had already become a worldwide frame, especially for Nigerians, Africans at home, and in the Diaspora who are likely to be Obidients, people swiftly raised their voices in confusion as to why he was being delayed. The immigration officers, who were equally caught aback by the public reaction, were compelled to admit that Obi was being questioned for a duplicate offense, which means that someone had been impersonating him in London.
The seriousness of the charge is that the impostor might be doing serious crimes and other heinous activities while using Obi’s name. Because the impersonator is still at large, the scenario is unthinkable, as Obi could be implicated in a series of prohibited acts and even framed in a way that would be a huge embarrassment to him, his family, his party, the Obidient Movement, and indeed Nigeria, where he currently and undeniably remains the conscience of the people.”
Obi-Datti’s media office reminded that the former Anambra State Governor has been under fire since the February presidential election, in which he finished third out of 18 candidates as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the organization, his supporters, other election monitors, including international observers, think Obi won the election but was manipulated out.
Since he was instructed to go to court if he has strong feelings about the election, which all foreign observers said was defective and full of flaws and he accepted, he has faced heavy criticism from all sides. Even the Federal Government, which ordered him to go to court, sent Minister of Information Lai Mohammad to the United States to try to de-market him and accuse him of treason.
Additionally, Obi’s phone line was tapped while they may have been hunting for material to discredit him in front of a group of citizens who had overwhelmingly supported him. They attempted to get him to leave the nation and take a break as if they were not succeeding in damaging his reputation and maybe placing the traducers under a larger conscience load, it was said.
It gave everyone of good will, especially the Obidients, reassurance that Obi was not discouraged because he was prepared to endure the suffering and was even more motivated to travel the route that his creator had planned for him in Nigeria.
