Through the upcoming national census, the National Population Commission (NPC) has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering accurate demographic data for efficient national planning.
Silas Agara, the federal commissioner who represents Nasarawa State in the NPC, said as much in an interview with the Daily Sun Tuesday in Lafia.
The law mandates that a census be taken every ten years, and the most recent one was held in the nation in 2006.
Agara informed Nigerians that the commission is ready to deliver reliable data for efficient planning and policy making with fewer than 25 days until the 2023 national census.
More than 70,000 Nasarawa State residents have requested ad hoc involvement with the commission, but only 15,000 people are required for the exercise, he claimed.
He added that the commission has taken all necessary steps to ensure that the upcoming national census would be the finest in the country’s history.
He urged everyone to support the panel in order to produce more accurate statistics that would hasten the nation’s progress.
