Chief John Metchie, the head of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), has pleaded with the state’s governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to save the residents of Umueri community in the state’s Anambra East Local Government Area from erosion, highlighting the danger that many of the community’s roads and villages posed.
He also praised Soludo and the state’s commissioner for transportation, Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike, for their continued safety requirements sensitization efforts in advance of the state’s introduction of water transportation.
Metchie, who is also the African Director for the United Nations affiliate International Association of World Peace Advocates, praised the team for starting the Otu-Ocha Marine Project in the Anambra East Local Government, saying it would be a huge relief for the locals in the state’s coastal communities.
The inhabitants of Umueri and the entire Anambra East Local Government, according to Metchie, who also serves as the community’s president-general, are grateful to the state government for the area’s preferential treatment.
He also mentioned Umueri General Hospital’s reconstruction, improvement, and equipment, among other things.
I want to congratulate my Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, and the state’s commissioner for transportation, Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike, for the continuous awareness on safety needs today, he stated. As part of a drill to get people ready for the government’s impending introduction of water transportation, numerous villages in Anambra East Local Government are anticipating the major sensitization and distribution of water safety materials to inhabitants.
Our towns would greatly benefit from safe water transportation since it would make it easier for residents to move from one neighborhood to another and because farmers would be relieved to reach their farms and rural and urban markets.
We should be thankful that Governor Soludo’s government has benefited Umueri and many other communities in Anambra East Local Government. We appreciate the consideration given to the region in terms of infrastructure development. A typical example is the recent installation of 50 CCTV Cameras throughout local government communities for security surveillance and other purposes, as well as the renovation, upgrading, and equipping of Umueri General Hospital, with the deployment of the Chief Medical Director, physicians, nurses, and a dental clinic to the facility, among others.
While we are expressing our gratitude, I would want to implore my working governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, to kindly save Umueri from the threat of massive and rapidly expanding erosion that is damaging rural roads and endangering villages.
“I want my Governor to know that we are only going to be saved from the natural but manageable disaster by his personal, urgent intervention,”
Without a doubt, His Excellency would come to our aid in this situation, as he has in the past, having demonstrated leadership and compassion in governing.
“May God bless the State of Anambra and our hard-working Governor.”
