A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter has been involved in a crash incident. Authorities from the NAF have confirmed this unfortunate event, specifying that the helicopter in question is an MI-171 Helicopter.
According to their report, the helicopter was engaged in a mission for evacuating casualties. Regrettably, on Monday, the 14th of August, at approximately 1 p.m., the aircraft crashed near Chukuba village in Niger State.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information, shared that the helicopter had taken off from Zungeru Primary School and was en route to Kaduna. However, it was later discovered that the crash occurred near Chukuba Village within the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
Currently, active efforts are underway to rescue both the crew members and passengers who were on board the helicopter during the incident.
Air Commodore Gabkwet mentioned that initial investigations have commenced in order to determine the potential cause of the crash.
