Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), says the university has adopted a hybrid teaching technique to address facilities inadequacy caused by an increase in student population.
Olatunji-Bello made the remarks on Tuesday at the institution’s 26th Convocation Lecture and 40th anniversary celebration in Lagos.
The topic of the theme was “The Impact of Digitisation on Higher Education in the Digital Age.”
“With this effort, we are able to meet the growing demands of the digital revolution in managing higher education,” remarked the vice-chancellor.
“Aside from alleviating classroom overcrowding, this innovation will allow students who are unable to attend physical classes to participate in virtual ones regardless of their location on the university’s campuses.”
“This hybrid method has also solved problems associated with manually accessing university services such as certificate and transcript processing, payment of school fees, and other financial transactions,” Olatunji-Bello stated.
The vice-chancellor further said that LASU had invested significant amounts to digitalise procedures in order to provide seamless service delivery.
“Today, it gives me great pleasure to announce that LASU is one of Nigeria’s most digitalised universities.”
“It is undeniable that technology has become an indispensable reality in all areas of daily lives today.
“Given its flexibility and adaptability in diverse areas of human endeavours,” Olatunji-Bello remarked, “technology has become an integral aspect of higher institution management.”
