The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board have announced that provision of email addresses is now required for registration for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination commencing Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
The admissions board announced this in a statement issued on Monday by its Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, who stated that no candidate will be enrolled in the future unless an email address is supplied.
Although registration is still ongoing, JAMB stated that the latest development would make the process of capturing all relevant information about candidates more flexible and easy in the future, but that the board would not retrieve lost email passwords or change email addresses for candidates who have already registered.
It also stated that the latest advisory will make it easier and less expensive to communicate urgent and critical information to candidates.
“Furthermore, e-mail allows more flexibility in contact and is a more professional means of reaching out to prospects,” according to the statement.
“Candidates are, therefore, urged to obtain their legitimate e-mail addresses before proceeding with UTME registration.
“In addition, candidates must ensure that their passwords are kept safe, as the board does not retrieve forgotten e-mail passwords or alter e-mail addresses once registered.”
According to the source, registration for the 2023 UTME began on Saturday, January 14, 2023, and will close on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
