Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the Local Government elections in the state on Saturday.
Obaseki made this statement shortly after casting his vote at Ward 10, Unit 19 polling station at around 1:50 p.m.
He remarked that despite the rain, the voter turnout had been quite encouraging, which indicated that political parties had effectively carried out their sensitization efforts.
He also noted the peaceful nature of the electoral process, expressing his contentment with it. He commended the fact that people had arrived at the polling stations well in advance of the close of polls, and there had been no incidents of violence reported.
Regarding his expectations for the election outcome, Governor Obaseki expressed confidence that the candidates with the most popular support would emerge victorious. He acknowledged the vigorous campaign efforts made by the PDP and suggested that the other parties’ mobilization efforts were less clear to him.
