The Lagos State Police Command has formed a 13-member special investigative team to look into the enigmatic demise of the Nigerian musician known as Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba.
Lagos State Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, emphasized their unique collaboration with INTERPOL, stating, “It’s essential to remember that we have exclusive access to INTERPOL. Everyone connected to the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death will be identified, and their level of involvement will be determined.”
Last Tuesday, The PUNCH reported the passing of Mohbad, a former artist signed to Marlian Records, owned by Azeez Faashola, widely known as Naira Marley, who passed away at the age of 27.
In his heartfelt tribute, Naira Marley mourned Mohbad’s loss, describing him not just as an artist or signee but as a beloved brother and friend. He conveyed this sentiment through his Instagram account last Friday night, releasing a personal statement on behalf of the Marlian Record label.
“From the very beginning, we recognized Mohbad as a remarkable talent. His music brought love and light to countless people. Mohbad connected with us through his sincere lyrics, storytelling, infectious smile, and vibrant energy. The news of his passing has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts,” a portion of the statement expressed.
Naira Marley also shared a video of the late singer on his Instagram account with the caption, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Rest in perfect peace my broski 💡 🕊. I’m shattered 💔💔#Imole’sWorld💡. Got u forever bro.”
