WhatsApp has launched a new feature that allows users to edit already sent messages. Users of the instant messaging service will be allowed to edit messages up to 15 minutes after they have been sent, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who disclosed the new feature on Monday.
“You can now edit your sent messages on WhatsApp if you make a mistake or simply change your mind.”
“We’re excited to give you more control over your chats, such as correcting misspellings or adding more context to a message.”
“To do this, you must tap and hold the message for a few seconds after sending it, then select the ‘Edit’ option from the menu.”
Prior to the new feature, social media users had to delete messages or provide corrections in a different message.
According to Meta, the feature is already being sent out to users and will be available to everyone in a few weeks.
Users of other services, such as Telegram and Signal, have been utilizing messaging editing tools before WhatsApp, and Twitter had also granted premium users access to the edit button.
