President Bola Tinubu has issued a recall for Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK), Sarafa Isola. The formal notice of the envoy’s recall was conveyed through a letter from Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The letter reads, “I have the privilege to inform you of Mr. President’s decision to recall you, signifying the end of your tenure as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the United Kingdom.”
It further instructs Isola to initiate the process of concluding his diplomatic duties, formally bid farewell to the UK government within a period of sixty days, and return to Nigeria no later than October 31, 2023.
On behalf of President Tinubu, Minister Tuggar expressed gratitude to the ambassador for his service and extended best wishes for his future pursuits.
It’s noteworthy that Sarafa Isola was appointed as the high commissioner to the UK by former President Muhammadu Buhari in January 2021. Prior to this role, he had previously served as the Minister for Mines and Steel Development during the administration of the late former President Musa Yar’Adua.
