Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday announced that President Bola Tinubu has granted approval for the construction of 1,000 houses in seven states: Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger, and Benue.
This announcement was made during the inauguration of projects executed by the Borno State Government over the past 100 days. Mr. Olusola Abiola, the Director of Information in the Office of the Vice President, conveyed this information through a statement.
The Vice President elaborated that these housing projects are part of a comprehensive Federal Government initiative aimed at addressing conflicts in Northern Nigeria. Shettima further disclosed that President Tinubu allocated N50 billion to the National Emergency Management Agency to launch the Pulaku initiative, which offers a non-kinetic solution to the challenges faced by the Northwest region’s population.
Shettima emphasized President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring that all affected individuals are included in these efforts. He assured that the developmental progress initiated by President Tinubu would benefit every corner of the nation.
Additionally, Shettima revealed that the Federal Government is planning to revitalize wheat production in Nigeria, demonstrating President Tinubu’s awareness of and determination to address the issues faced by Nigerians. Shettima highlighted Tinubu’s empathy for the less fortunate in society and acknowledged that some difficult decisions made by the government were a response to the prevailing circumstances.
He concluded by promising that the government would unveil numerous projects and programs in the coming weeks and months that would positively impact the lives of many citizens.
Shettima praised Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State for his visionary leadership and dedication to the welfare of the people. He expressed gratitude for Zulum’s support and emphasized their strong relationship, setting an example for the cooperative transition of power between successors and predecessors in contemporary Nigeria.
During his visit to Maiduguri, Shettima inaugurated various projects, including the Shuwari II Community School and Healthcare Centre, the Alikaramti Community School, and the Gamboru Liberty Day Secondary School, all within the Maiduguri metropolis. He received a warm welcome from an enthusiastic crowd, especially schoolchildren.
Before these events, Shettima paid homage to the Shehu of Borno’s Palace upon his arrival in Maiduguri. He was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Senator Abubakar Kyari, as well as legislators from the National and State Assemblies. Additionally, the deputy governors of Borno, Gombe, and Taraba states were part of the Vice President’s entourage during his visit to the palace.
