The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) was recently honored with a Spokesperson Communication Award and Certificate of Excellence at the Spokesperson Communication Award 2022.
According to the event’s organizers, Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), the award was given in honor of NITDA’s strategic approach to information distribution, particularly on digital media communication platforms. The Award, the organizers stated, was the outcome of NITDA’s persistent work and dedication to educate the general public about various initiatives carried out by the Agency on social media platforms.
“NITDA has proven to be a force to reckon with in terms of social media activities, particularly providing quality content to its followers, which draws engagement from all corners, as well as interacting with Nigerians seeking information about the Agency’s mandate,” said Alhaji Yushau Shuaib, CEO of IMPR.
Mrs Hadiza Umar, Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations at NITDA, thanked the organizers for “recognizing our modest efforts with the Award of Excellence” on behalf of the Director General.
“Social media has become a vital element of NITDA’s marketing operations because we have witnessed the enormous and measurable influence it has on our organization,” she added. We use it to engage a local and worldwide audience in order to inform Nigerians about our mandates, actions, and global technological trends.”
“We implemented initiatives to promote brand recognition, new technology, cybersecurity awareness, and updates on how people should secure their personal information online. These constant updates have considerably contributed to the protection of countless people from being defrauded.
“Technology is mostly for young people, and social media is primarily for young people. In Nigeria’s coordinated efforts to develop ICT and the digital economy, it has become critical to use social media to promote all of our operations and raise awareness for inventive Nigerians to reveal their ideas and become employers of labor and value contributors.”
“We engaged our followers in Digital Economy trends and development, and informed them of the Agency’s successes since the establishment of National Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS), championed by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy,” she added.
