Soldiers from section 1 of Operation Haderin Daji successfully liberated Dr. Hassan Abubakar Augie, the former Provost of the Federal College of Education Technical (FCET) in Gusau, Zamfara State, along with his son, both of whom had been kidnapped in the state capital.
Reliable sources indicate that troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Mada in Gusau discovered armed militants while conducting a routine patrol along the Marke general area of the Shemori-Yandoto road. The soldiers promptly engaged the terrorists in a fierce exchange of gunfire.
The outcome of this confrontation was the rescue of the abducted individuals. The source elaborated that the soldiers and the militants clashed for several hours, ultimately compelling the bandits to retreat into the forest.
