Paris Saint-Germain’s forward, Kylian Mbappe, has been recalled into the first-team squad of the Ligue 1 team. PSG made the announcement of Mbappe’s return via their official website on Sunday.
The French striker is set to participate in the league opener against Lorient.
Mbappe had been placed on the transfer list by PSG after he opted not to sign a new contract with the club for the 2023/2024 season.
The club stated, “Following positive and productive discussions between PSG and Kylian Mbappé before the Lorient game, the player has been reintegrated into the first-team training squad this morning.”
Earlier reports from France indicated that Mbappe had chosen to remain with Paris Saint-Germain beyond this summer.
Despite his current PSG contract expiring in 2024, the 24-year-old forward has been at the center of one of the most prominent transfer sagas of the summer.
Al Hilal, a Saudi Pro League side, had submitted a world-record bid of £259 million for the forward. However, Mbappe reportedly declined to engage in discussions with representatives from the club.
Liverpool and Chelsea had been linked to potential loan moves for the player, with PSG allegedly believing that Mbappe had already agreed to terms with Real Madrid for the upcoming season.
Liverpool’s interest was downplayed by their manager, Jurgen Klopp, who stated in a press conference that the club couldn’t afford Mbappe.
Nonetheless, amidst all the speculation, Mbappe appears to have reached what is being reported as a “final decision” regarding his immediate future.
According to French news outlet Le Parisien, Mbappe has resolved to stay with PSG and will not move to a different club during the current transfer window.
