Portable, a popular Nigerian street-hop musician, has indicated a goal to win a Grammy award in his career.
He stated this in an interview with Timi Agbaje, a prominent event MC.
Portable said that he aspires to win the ‘Best Artiste in Africa’ category at the Grammys, despite the fact that such a category does not exist at the world’s most famous musical award ceremony.
He aims to win the honor with his title “Ika of Africa,” he says.
“That thing I’d like to achieve that’ll make me completely fulfilled is to win a Grammy. I want to be named ‘Africa’s Best Artiste’. Number one artiste o! “I want to use the Ika of Africa title to acquire that prize,” he stated.
The ‘Zazu’ singer stated that he must be honored by the world music organization and not be a beneficiary of ‘sold up and down’ local prizes.
“Ah!!! If I don’t get an award, ah!!! International recognition o! Not all of those local awards that they sell up and down the street. You are aware that the industry has caucuses, but destiny has no competitors. But what if they said we had to compete? What are they singing?
“What are those individuals receiving prizes singing? Can you perform with a live band? Do you have a nice voice? Can you perform a reality song? Can’t you thank God? …..Ogun kee you!
Portable stated that if he had to choose one female artist to collaborate with, it would be Asa.
