On Tuesday, the Oyo State House of Assembly granted approval to Governor Seyi Makinde’s request to appoint twenty special advisers.
The approval followed a letter of request submitted by the governor to the House of Assembly.
During an emergency plenary session, Speaker Mr. Debo Ogundoyin read the governor’s request on the floor of the house.
In part, the letter stated: “I wish to bring to the attention of the House that since the assumption of this administration, I have made only a few appointments. However, there is a need to bring additional appointees on board to assist the Executive Arm in implementing its policies. Therefore, I seek the honorable legislature’s approval to appoint twenty Special Advisers to fill strategic portfolios.”
The majority leader, Sanjo Adedoyin from Ogbomoso South, voiced support for the request, which was seconded by Sola Owolabi from Ibadan Northeast Constituency 2.
During their contributions, the lawmakers unanimously commended the Governor’s decision to appoint the special advisers.
