Osun: Gov Adeleke seeks TETFund support to strengthen infrastructure

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has sought for support from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to enhance the infrastructure development of tertiary institutions within the state. Adeleke made this appeal during a courtesy visit to Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, in Abuja on Friday.

The Governor, recognizing the decline in the state’s educational sector, emphasized the importance of this visit in reinstating the pride of education. He commended TETFund for its significant contributions to improving tertiary education nationwide, stating that almost every development in tertiary institutions could be traced back to TETFund’s support.

Adeleke said, “I want to start by commending TETFund for its outstanding work across Nigeria. TETFund’s presence can be found in every institution, so any responsible governor must acknowledge their efforts and encourage them to do even more. In Osun State, we have benefited from TETFund’s contributions in the area of infrastructure. I am here to seek further support from TETFund for Osun State because our educational standards have declined significantly.”

In response, Echono emphasized the crucial role that tertiary education plays in shaping a country’s destiny. He stressed that considerable attention must be devoted to tertiary education due to its role in fostering innovation, creativity, and enterprise.

He stated, “We firmly believe that tertiary education holds a special position in the affairs and destiny of any country. It is at this level that the highest levels of production, creativity, and impact occur. Whether it’s about generating new ideas, creating new products and services, or finding better ways of doing things, it is at this level that innovation reaches its peak, and creativity and entrepreneurship thrive. It is this body of knowledge and expertise that serves various sectors of the economy, including health, media, and others.”
