Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, the youth arm of the main Igbo socio-cultural organization, has said that it has yet to endorse a presidential candidate.
With less than two weeks until the presidential election, practically all regional organizations have backed their preferred candidate.
However, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, National President of OYC, informed the press in a statement on Saturday that the organization has yet to endorse any candidate.
Okwu stated that the Igbo body was still deliberating before adopting a position ahead of the February 25 presidential election, which has several Igbo sons.
“We are glad that when Nigerians go to the polls on February 25, we have capable Igbo sons running for the president,” he said.
“Among them is Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate. We also have Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the Peoples Democratic Party’s Vice Presidential candidate, and Justice Peter Umeadi of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, among others.”
“These are all our capable, tested and trusted Igbo leaders who have distinguished themselves in various leadership positions.
“It is based on this that we are still consulting to eventually make our stance clear on our choice of candidate for the presidential election. This decision will be made within the next couple of days.
