Wale Edun, who holds the positions of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been appointed as the Chairman of the African Governors’ Forum of the World Bank.
The African Governors’ Forum serves as a forum for finance ministers and central bank governors from Africa to interact with the World Bank on matters of common concern.
According to a statement released on the Ministry of Finance’s official page, Edun’s appointment marks the first time such a role has been given to a representative from Nigeria.
“The appointment presents a distinctive opportunity for Nigeria and the implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement noted.
