The Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission, (RMFAC), has recommended that the basic salaries of political and judicial office holders be increased.
The commission’s Chairman, Alhaji Muhammadu Shehu, who was represented by RMAFC commissioner from Kebbi State, Mrs Rakiya Tanko-Ayuba, made the announcement on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi, during the presentation of the reviewed remuneration package of political and judicial office holders to the state Governor, Dr Nasir Idris.
The proposed salary increase was described as provocative by organised labour because of the pain Nigerians were experiencing as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the pay requirement law was evaluated by the national and state legislators before it was implemented.
