The Katsina State Police Command has issued a statement urging Nigerians to disregard a viral social media video that alleges its officers diverted palliatives. In an official communication by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the police have clarified that the video is deceptive and designed to smear their reputation.
ASP Sadiq revealed that a thorough investigation confirmed that the bags of rice seen in the video, inside a police vehicle, were actually intercepted and recovered from dishonest individuals. These individuals had illicitly acquired an excessive portion of the palliatives, and the police promptly returned them to the distribution site.
He expressed disappointment that the video distorts the truth and undermines the commendable efforts of the officers deployed to ensure the smooth and secure distribution of palliatives during the event.
The Command acknowledged the concerns expressed by the public regarding the video and encouraged everyone to exercise caution and critical thinking when consuming online content.
The police department stressed the importance of uniting against misinformation and working together to build a stronger and more understanding society, reaffirming its commitment to serving the state’s residents with honesty and integrity.”
