“The Kano State Executive Council has granted approval for the disbursement of N854 million towards the Auren Zaurawa Mass Wedding Initiative. Additionally, a sum of N700 million has been approved to cover the school fees of 7,000 indigenous students enrolled at Bayero University Kano (BUK).
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf conveyed this information on Thursday through his verified X platform, previously known as Twitter.
“In light of our proactive measures to alleviate the impact of our prevailing economic challenges, the leadership of the Kano State Executive Council has today granted consent for the allocation of Seven Hundred Million Naira to address the tuition fees for 7,000 students enrolled at Bayero University Kano (BUK),” the governor shared.
“Further comprehensive particulars about this initiative will be provided in due course.”
The state administration has disbursed funds for the inaugural phase of the Auren Zaurawa Mass Wedding Initiative and has also established a dedicated committee to resolve the backlog of pension arrears for retirees from the Kano State Civil Service.
Additionally, The state government also approved the rehabilitation of pedestrian bridges at Bayero University Kano Old Campus, Aminu Kano College of Legal and Islamic Studies, and the Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education.
