The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have once more expressed concern about the worsening health of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is being held by the DSS.
Following a report they received from one of their attorneys who saw Kanu in custody last Thursday, the pro-Biafra organization yesterday issued a statement under the signature of Emma Powerful, who serves as the group’s media and publicity secretary.
“We, therefore, again call for his unconditional release in accordance with the court’s ruling so that he can receive appropriate medical attention and testing.
“The information we learned from one of our attorneys who met Mazi Nnamdi Kanu yesterday, Thursday, April 13, 2023, is troubling. The brutal DSS solitary detention has left Mazi Nnamdi Kanu physically tired and throwing up, the report claims.
We must keep in mind that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu suffers from a medical ailment that the DSS has been unable to address, but they have denied him access to his own physicians and specialists. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s untreated medical condition, consequences from injuries he got from torture, inadequate diet, and lack of medication while he was held in solitary confinement for over two years are all factors contributing to his physical weariness. In order to care for his deteriorating health, we are requesting his immediate and unconditional release. IPOB Demanded
The organization argued that even if no charges have been brought against Kanu, the Federal Government is still pursuing him, and that the world community, Nigerians, and supporters of Biafra should be aware of this.
The Nigerian government and the Supreme Court of Nigeria are working together to murder Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by torturing him in DSS solitary custody as things are right now. It is terrible that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s human rights are being flagrantly violated as court orders being deliberately ignored by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
We are pleading with you now to liberate our leader. The Nigerian government and all local authorities are continuing to be firm. Our peaceful demonstration for the release of our leader was met with the cold-blooded killing of our people in Aba, Abia State, by the bloodthirsty Nigerian security forces.
“If anything bad happens to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu while he is being held by the DSS (Okike forbid), these peaceful approaches will be a ‘tit for tat.'” No matter where they are in the globe, everyone and every group participating will pay with their own blood.
“Neither Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s resolution nor IPOB’s resolve to pursue Biafra independence will be broken by those who are torturing him using the tool of injustice and pressure, not today, not tomorrow, and not forever. The Biafran people would not trade with anything in this world, according to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, a living legend, the IPOB claimed. The Nigerian government and her supporters should be aware of this.
Therefore, the organization sought Kanu’s unconditional release as per the court’s ruling in order to prevent what it dubbed apocalypse and issued the caution that “a stitch in time saves nine.”
