INEC chairman declared the 2023 Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu House of Representatives election inconclusive.
This followed the disparity in winning margins and the cancellation of results in two federal constituency polling units.
The returning officer, Dr. Adams Baba, who declared the result inconclusive in Kabba on Sunday said the difference in the results between the winner, Arch Salman Idris of the African Democratic Congress and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Kolawole Matthew, was not up to the number of registered voters in the canceled polling units.
“The ADC candidate received 13867 votes while the APC received 13605 votes, resulting in a difference of only 262 votes, while the number of PVC collected in the canceled polling units of Iya in Otu ward in Kabba/Bunu LGA (485) and Open Space polling unit in Egbeda ward in Ijumu LGA (100) is greater than the difference.”
The returning officer, however, did not specify when the rerun election would be held in the affected polling units.
