Mr. Ossai Ovie Success, a former aide to ex-Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has vowed to take legal proceedings against the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) if Nigerian music star Afeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, is observed smoking once again following his engagement with the agency.
Naira Marley expressed his endorsement for the agency’s anti-drug campaign aimed at curbing substance abuse among youths, teenagers, and his followers, known as Marlians. During a visit to the NDLEA’s national headquarters in Abuja, he conveyed his commitment to combating drug-related issues on the streets.
The selection of Naira Marley as a spokesperson for the NDLEA’s initiative has ignited various responses from users on social media platforms.
However, Ovie Success, in a Facebook post, raised questions about whether the music icon had ceased his smoking habits before being chosen to advocate against drugs. He stated, “I will take legal action against the NDLEA if I witness Naira Marley smoking in his music videos or in public, and if any of the artists signed to his record label are seen smoking.”
He continued, “I hope Naira Marley has genuinely quit smoking before receiving compensation from the NDLEA to campaign against smoking and drugs.”
“I am closely monitoring his actions as I am pleased with this campaign.”
