The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has sacked his Commissioner for Land, Adamu Aliyu Kibiya. In a viral video, Commissioner Adamu Aliyu Kibiya was recorded allegedly making threatening remarks about the final verdict of the election petitions tribunal, stating, “We will kill anybody who dares to tamper with our hard-earned victory at the elections tribunal.”
These comments raised concerns and alarm in the community, leading to calls for his immediate prosecution to deter potential acts of violence.
Speaking to the media about the decision, State Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, emphasized that the government completely disassociates itself from these irresponsible remarks made towards the tribunal judges.
Similarly, the Special Adviser on Youth and Recreational Activities, Alhaji Yusuf Imam, made derogatory comments targeting Vice President Kashim Shettima. The government clarified that neither of these individuals was authorized to speak on behalf of the government.
Furthermore, the government issued a directive that, moving forward, no government officials are permitted to speak without obtaining clearance from the appropriate authority.
