Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has temporarily relieved Chief Angela Odey, the Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), of her duties due to alleged mismanagement of palliatives intended to alleviate the impact of subsidy removal.
This suspension was communicated through a press release dated October 30, issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbeche. The release, made available to the media in Calabar on Monday, directs the immediate suspension of the DG. She has been instructed to facilitate a smooth handover to the most senior director within her agency by the close of business on Monday.
During her suspension, Chief Angela Odey is not permitted to partake in any activities related to the agency unless otherwise specified. It’s worth noting that a few weeks ago, the governor initiated the distribution of these palliatives throughout the state.
