Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, has identified Christopher Nkunku as the player his team felt the absence of during their match against Liverpool.
Pochettino made these remarks following Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
It should be noted that Nkunku was unable to participate in the match due to an injury he sustained over the summer before the commencement of the new Premier League season.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Pochettino stated, “Certainly, we were missing a player like [Christopher] Nkunku, who had formed a great partnership with [Jackson]. They were performing excellently during the pre-season.”
He further commented, “Our intention had been to field [Nkunku] alongside [Jackson], but we have to adapt to the situation.
“Such circumstances are a part of football, and it’s essential for us to maintain a positive outlook.”
The outcome against Liverpool has placed Chelsea in the 10th position on the Premier League table at the moment.
Pochettino’s team is set to take on West Ham United in their upcoming Premier League fixture.
