The leadership of the Labour Party has asked Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to exclude their candidate, Peter Obi, from his dispute with President Bola Tinubu. They said that Obi’s primary focus is on recovering his ‘stolen mandate’ at the Supreme Court.
However, the party expressed its willingness to embrace any interest that aligns with its pursuit of a nation where true justice prevails.
The response came in reaction to Atiku Abubakar’s call for Peter Obi and the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to join him in revealing what he alleges are the president’s hidden secrets.
In a statement released in Abuja and delivered by the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh, the party appealed for the opportunity for their candidate to concentrate on his case before the Supreme Court.
The statement read, “The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, is presently in the Supreme Court seeking to reclaim his stolen mandate, and he is fully committed to that cause. He has been a strong advocate for a just nation where justice is upheld as a fundamental principle, and he will persist until Nigeria attains the leadership it genuinely deserves.”
The statement continued, “Obi has consistently stressed the importance of leaders being role models and living lives worthy of emulation. He has demonstrated this commitment by publicly presenting his credentials for verification. Nigeria will experience improvement when leaders of integrity and honour steer the nation’s affairs.”
In conclusion, the Labour Party welcomed any other interest that is willing to join them in their pursuit of a nation where justice prevails.
