The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has launched an intense search for a notorious drug dealer named Sowunmi Ayodeji Kayode, based in Lekki, Lagos.
This individual is currently evading authorities after an incident where he used his luxury car to run over an NDLEA officer in an attempt to escape arrest. The incident occurred during a recent operation at his residence.
Agents from the anti-narcotics unit of the NDLEA had carried out a raid on Friday, August 18th at the residence of the sought-after drug dealer, situated at 2/3 Adetola Ayeni Close, Lekki, Lagos. The operation was intended for a search and potential apprehension due to credible intelligence indicating his involvement in illegal drug activities within his residence.
Although he was absent from his home when the operatives initially entered the premises, he later returned while the search was on-going. In a dramatic turn of events, upon spotting the NDLEA officers, he rapidly reversed his vehicle, striking one of the officers.
He then crashed through his own gate and collided with the adjacent compound’s fence. The impact of the collision led to the collapse of his neighbor’s concrete wall. Subsequently, he abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
During a comprehensive search of his residence, approximately 10.5 kilograms of illicit substances known as “Loud” were seized. The NDLEA officer who was struck by the fleeing suspect’s vehicle suffered numerous injuries and sustained compound fractures in both legs. The injured officer is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
In response to this regrettable incident, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), has instructed the deployment of appropriate operational resources to locate and apprehend the wanted suspect who is in hiding.
Additionally, he authorized the provision of comprehensive medical care for the injured officer, with the aim of facilitating his swift recovery.
