A government official reported that a catastrophic fire erupted in the town of Seme Podji in southern Benin, near the border with Nigeria, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 34 lives, including two infants.
The bodies of the victims were severely burned due to the illicit fuel being the source of the fire. Interior Minister Alassane Seidou shared this information with journalists on Saturday.
Further information will be provided in due course.
