Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, PDP Vice Presidential Candidate, will lead other party stalwarts and members in a protest against the outcome of the presidential election on Monday at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.
INEC declared Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, the winner and President-elect of the presidential election conducted on February 25.
Tinubu received 8,794,726 votes, defeating Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who received 6,101,533 votes.
Nevertheless, Atiku and the PDP rejected Tinubu’s declaration as president-elect, saying that the election was plagued by infractions and that they would challenge it in court.
The opposition party has told its members that a protest would be held tomorrow morning in front of INEC’s building, which appears to be one of the ways to reject the outcome.
According to a notice sent by the PDP Presidential Campaign Council’s Director of Administration, Ibrahim Bashir, the protest will begin at 10 a.m. at the Legacy House in the Maitama area.
