The All Progressives Congress (APC) denied media claims that it zoned the leadership positions for the 10th NASS to particular geopolitical zones of the country.
The president-elect, Bola Tinubu, had passionately opposed the proposal to microzone the senate presidency of the incoming 10th National Assembly to the country’s south-south geographical zone, which is being pushed by some groups in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, responded to the news by denying the reports and adamantly stating that the ruling party has not yet designated the leadership positions for the 10th National Assembly.
Morka pointed out that such social media reports did not come from the party.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to versions of zoning arrangements for the 10th National Assembly leadership positions that have been circulated in sections of social media,” he stated. The material was not provided by the Party and should be disregarded.”
“To be clear, the Party has yet to zone leadership positions in the 10th National Assembly.” Any such decisions will be announced through the Party’s official information channels.”
