The 2023 National Entrepreneurship Exhibition and Awards competition was won by students from Mater Amabilis Secondary School in Umuoji, Anambra State.

This remarkable achievement came after a fierce competition between 20 top secondary schools across the country.
The annual competition, organised by the Nigerian segment of the Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship, aims to empower students with entrepreneurial and technical abilities.

The event, conducted from June 25 to 28, 2023, at the Area Council Service Commission House in Garki, Abuja, exhibited the participant teams’ creative ideas and entrepreneurial skills.
Mater Amabilis Secondary School impressed the judges with their outstanding projects, securing the overall first position.

A hydroelectric device that converts salt water into electricity is one of their projects, and also a multi-purpose agro machine capable of weeding, irrigating, seeding, fumigating, and monitoring soil moisture and nutrient levels.

These ground-breaking ideas displayed the students’ creativity, innovation, and commitment to tackling important societal issues.
Mater Amabilis Secondary School has secured the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the next SAGE World Cup in Italy later this year as a result of this achievement.

Furthermore, the gold medalists have been awarded a full scholarship to study at Cyprus International University.
Joshua Ekeh and Grace Amamudi captained the team. Ekeh received the SAGE Best Mentor of the Year award as well.

In his reply, the Manager of Mater Amabilis Secondary School, Rev. Fr. Francis Onwuchulum, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the students for their outstanding accomplishment, viewing it as another milestone in the school’s history of success.

Onwuchulum asked the award-winning kids to “remain focused in their studies and view the triumph as a stepping stone toward even greater life accomplishments.”

He praised the school’s proprietor, Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke, Archbishop of Onitsha, whom he described as the brain behind all of the school’s recent achievements.
