The Anambra State Government has awarded a scholarship to Miss Nkechinyere Umeh, an indigene of the state who has the highest score in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
Umeh scored 360 on the examination, according to the state commissioner for education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, who announced this in a statement on Tuesday in Awka.
According to Chuma-Udeh, the state government offered the student a scholarship to study any course at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.
“Nkechinyere Umeh, having scored 360 in the UTME for 2023, has been declared the best by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
“This demonstrates that Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s administration’s efforts to reposition the education sector are yielding desired dividend.”
“This scholarship will encourage and motivate her to do more in the future, and it will also serve as an example to other students in the state,” she added.
The commissioner said that Soludo’s administration will continue to prioritize education in the state.
