Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has congratulated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat following the Court of Appeal’s ruling that affirmed their victory in the March 18th governorship election in the state.
In response to the court’s decision, Ojelabi expressed that the appellate court’s ruling validates the confidence that residents have placed in Governor Sanwoolu’s administration. He conveyed the party’s collective joy and excitement, emphasizing that party leaders and members are elated about the outcome of the appellate court’s decision.
The chairman believes that the court’s pronouncement serves as a testament to the trust residents have in the APC in Lagos State. Ojelabi highlighted that the court’s decision aligns with the favorable outcome from the Lagos State Elections Petition Tribunal.
He stated, “This outcome has laid credence to the Lagos State Elections Petition Tribunal which was also in our favor. The APC as a party appreciates the due diligence done by the Nigeria Judiciary to arrive at this conclusion.”
Ojelabi emphasized the unanimity of the three-man panel of judges, namely Justice Yargata Nimpa, Justice Samuel Bola, and Justice Paul Bassey, in dismissing the appeal of the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Azeez Adediran, citing a lack of merit.
The chairman applauded the thoroughness of the judicial process, noting that all issues were scrutinized comprehensively. He further commended the dismissal of the appeal filed by the Labour Party and its governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, challenging the re-election of Sanwo-Olu and his deputy.
Ojelabi concluded by expressing confidence in the evolution and reliability of the judicial system in the country, commending the diligence of the judiciary in ensuring a just and fair resolution of electoral disputes.
