Mr. Bola Babarinde, a former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in South Africa, has advised Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to use lessons learned from Wednesday’s tribunal judgement to enhance the conduct of future elections in the country.
In a congratulatory message to President Bola Tinubu following his triumph at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), Babarinde underscored the importance of INEC utilizing the lessons derived from the tribunal’s decision to ensure transparent and fair gubernatorial elections in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa.
While celebrating Tinubu’s victory in the tribunal, Babarinde also urged the president to exhibit magnanimity in success and be receptive to criticism and suggestions from citizens for the sake of good governance.
He emphasized that the pinnacle of the tribunal process was the judgment that dismissed the petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party candidates, deeming President Bola Tinubu the rightful winner of the election.
Babarinde further emphasized that now that the petitions had been resolved, Nigerians should prioritize the nation’s interests by offering constructive ideas, regardless of their political affiliations, to contribute to the greatness of the country.
