Violence erupts as thugs attacked a polling unit outside the Oba Elegushi Palace in Ikate, Eti-Osa, Lekki, Lagos State, carting away ballot boxes.
On Saturday afternoon, hoodlums reportedly attacked the area, carting away ballot boxes and chasing away the presiding officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
“The ballot boxes were snatched, and everyone fled. Thugs are still loitering in the area.”
In addition, a well-known Twitter user “The vote outside the palace was scattered by area boys,” wrote Samuel Otigba, who voted in the polling unit inside the palace. The ballot box has been tampered with. The presiding officer was chased away.
“They just physically assaulted @EditiEffiong because he was filming the entire thing. When they saw and chased him, he tried to flee into the palace, but the gate was locked. This is madness. The cops here just stood there doing nothing. They seized his phone and deleted the video.
“Was outside when they chased and assaulted @EditiEffiong, tried recording but they are beating anyone recording here & taking your phone if they spot you. “Area dey hot.”
