Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, has announced that the Blue App will split revenue from adverts that appear in reply threads with Twitter account holders.
Musk revealed this on Friday in a series of tweets from his verified Twitter account. Only accounts that have subscribed to the Twitter Blue Verified icon, he claims, will profit from the new policy.
The Tesla CEO also stated that Twitter’s legacy Blue Verified is polluted with corruption and would be phased out in a few months.
“As of today, Twitter will share ad revenue with authors for ads that appear in their reply threads,” he said. To be eligible, the account must be a Twitter Blue Verified subscriber.
