President-elect Bola Tinubu has been listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world for 2023 by the American magazine Time.
The magazine said of Tinubu’s inclusion on the list: “Winning an election in Africa’s most populous nation is no easy task. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the recently elected president of Nigeria, has had over 20 years to prepare.
The 71-year-old, known to his admirers as Jagaban or “leader of the warriors,” competed in a presidential election for the first time this March. His catchphrase during the election, “It’s my turn,” was a reference to his lifelong position as a political power broker.
After opposing military control, Tinubu “helped restore the country’s democracy in 1999 and later served two consecutive terms as governor of Lagos,” the statement continued.
President of the United States Joe Biden is one of the prominent personalities from around the world who made the list.
Additionally, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain made the list of athletes.
