The Federal Government, FG, represented by the Accountant General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, reassured civil servants that there will be no delay in the payment of their July 2023 salaries. Madein made this announcement during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja.
Addressing the issue of delays in the payment of May and June 2023 salaries, Madein clarified that these delays were caused by certain uncontrollable challenges beyond the control of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation. However, she emphasized that measures have been put in place to ensure that salaries are paid promptly and without delays in the future.
In response to concerns about palliatives for civil servants in light of the fuel subsidy removal, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, assured workers that they will soon receive some relief. She mentioned that a committee set up by the government is exploring options, including transportation allowances, to ease the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on civil servants.
