The Imo State Police Command discovered a church that was being utilized as a baby factory along the MCC/Uratta Road.
On Thursday, police invaded the Jesus Life Assembly church after receiving information on a citizen, Amarachi Okechukwu Dioku, from the tactical unit.
Her parents reported her missing on May 23, 2021, from Umudurualaoka in Mbaitoli Local Government Area.
The teenager was recently seen in the premises of the church, which is located in a remote place near School Garden in Owerri North LGA.
Rabiu Hussaini, Commissioner of Police, dispatched the anti-kidnapping team to the site where the prime suspect, Evangelist Ugochi Orisakwe, 47, was discovered.
Chidi Orisakwe, 34, Pauline Nwagbunwanne, 42, Elizabeth Uzoma, 61, and Chibueze Joy, 31 were arrested with Ugochi.
Amarachi Dioku, who was five months pregnant at the time, was rescued unharmed and sent to a government hospital for treatment before being reunited with her parents.
Upon questioning, Evangelist Ugochi admitted that he utilized the church as a place to keep young girls and impregnate them.
She informed officers that when the females are paid off, their infants are sold to rich and childless clients.
“An investigation is now underway, and attempts are being made to apprehend other members of the gang who are on the run,” the Imo State Police Command stated.
