Following the ongoing debate about political support for the 2023 elections, Nigerian artist Peter Okoye declared that Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, is useless without his father’s name.
On Wednesday, Peter slammed Seun in a series of tweets from his Twitter account.
The controversy began when Seun labeled the Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi as an opportunist.
Peter Okoye leapt to Obi’s defense, sparking a back-and-forth that resulted in Seun accusing him and his twin brother of campaigning for President Buhari in 2015.
“We PSQUARE have never campaigned for any Presidential candidates before today except for PETER OBI,” Peter said. Yes, we performed during President Buhari’s inauguration in 2015. He had already been elected President! GO CHECK IT OUT.
“My late Father was a nobody, but now everyone knows the OKOYES. Try deleting “KUTI” from your name and see whether you’re still relevant.
“Remain in that your Local SHRINE while people like us and others continue to prosper globally. SHAMELESS CAN’T BE SHAMED.
You never had a music career to begin with. “All you do is brag about your family history.”
