Mr. Kashim Shettima, the Vice-President, expressed that the verdict delivered by the Presidential Election Petition Court is a testament to the trust Nigerians have in President Bola Tinubu and his administration. Shettima conveyed this message during a conversation with the press immediately after a five-member panel of justices, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, upheld Tinubu’s election as president.

He emphasized that President Bola Tinubu is deeply grateful to the Nigerian people and the party’s leadership, who had been present since 9 am. Shettima recognized the dedication of various party members, including the energetic chairman, the national secretary, members of the National Assembly, and ministers who were all present during the proceedings.

Shettima also underscored the importance of unity among Nigerians, stating that the bonds that unite them are more significant than any divisions. He urged Nigerians to unite in the face of common challenges, highlighting Nigeria’s role in global growth and its potential to shape the trajectory of the African continent.

While acknowledging that it had been a long day, Shettima emphasized that it was a positive one for Nigeria. He praised the Nigerian judiciary for upholding justice and fairness and commended the resilience of democracy in the face of misinformation and disinformation.

Shettima stressed that democracy is an ongoing journey that requires unwavering commitment and intent to safeguard the people’s will. He also addressed the campaign promise of “retiring political tourists to Dubai,” explaining that campaigns were over, and it was now time for governance.

He expressed respect for Atiku Abubakar as an elder statesman and suggested that the nation could benefit from his wealth of experience and exposure to elevate the country to new heights.
