Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo feels the Partenopei can survive without their talismanic forward Victor Osimhen against AC Milan.
Luciano Spalletti’s men go to the San Siro on Wednesday for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash. (today).
The game will be played without Osimhen, the leading scorer in Serie A.
The 24-year-old is now sidelined due to a muscle injury acquired while on international duty with Nigeria late last month.
Despite the absence of Osimhen, Napoli were blasted 4-0 by AC Milan in a league match last month.
There are fears that the Parthenopeans would suffer a similar fate this time, but Di Lorenzo has stated that his absence will have no effect on the team.
“We know Osimhen is a great player and very important to us, but we don’t rely on just one player.” “We have full faith in the available players,” Di Lorenzo was quoted as saying by Tutto Napoli.
“From this point of view, we are at peace.” I repeat, Osimhen is essential for us, but he will not be available for this match, therefore we will confront them with the guys we have.”
Osimhen has four goals in five appearances for Napoli in the Champions League this season.
